Shay Martin is a certified pediatric oncology nurse with over 14 years’ experience. She is amazed by the strength and joy she sees every day in her patients and their families, and she is passionate about patient education—ensuring parents and kids have the information and understanding they need.
Currently, as the RNS Program coordinator at Rocky Mountain Pediatric Hematology and Oncology, Shay works directly with pediatric oncology patients, as well as serving as a liaison between various members of the care team. Prior to this position, she worked at Childhood Hematology Oncology Associates in Denver and Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center in Denver.
Shay strives to improve the lives of our patients and has developed our Pediatric Oncology Wellness Clinic which focuses on the special needs of pediatric cancer survivors. She chairs the committee that plans our yearly Celebration of Life where we celebrate our patients both on and off therapy. She also serves on the planning committee for the CureSearch Walk for Children’s Cancer which raises money to fund childhood cancer research.
Shay has given lectures on the specific needs of pediatric oncology patients, worked extensively in nurse and patient education and contributed to ongoing clinical research in the field.
When she’s not working Shay likes to spend time with her husband and two small children enjoying all Colorado has to offer and attempting DIY projects.
